I had a letter through the post addressed to me today explaining that I will soon have the opportunity to vote in a referendum to determine our future in the EU. The letter was quite forceful in insisting that any sane person would immediately sign up with them, buy a tea shirt, donate money and be part of the family to leave. It lists ten reasons why it would be so beneficial to leave, none of which I fully understood. I would like to ask somebody what difference it would make to my sister, who lives in Spain. Will she still have her UK state pension? My brother in law is awaiting a hip replacement operation, so will this no longer be an option on the national health? If we go in for more border controls will the pet passport system be affected? Will we still be part of the IHF and be able to carry on with cross border matings? It’s difficult to make an informed decision when I haven’t been informed.

I picked up a schedule of Redditch and District C.S. Open show at Ringcraft last week, and noticed that they have given us classes. The date is Saturday 14th May and it is at The Sports Connexion, Coventry. Judge Hazel Fitzgibbon (Smiliesan) Let’s try and support them.

John and I had fun looking at a very old picture of four ladies with their Hovawarts at the first character assessment, posted on the Facebook Hovawart UK group.. We spotted Min Inches and Gill Stockton with no trouble at all, as they have changed very little, but the other two got us stumped. But then it was at least 2 years before we even had a Hovawart. Our old Tegen, from Janet Kibble, didn’t come along until 1987. The club should really have an Archivist who would catalogue all these old pictures for posterity!

Next event for us is the club AGM – do hope one or two more folk than the officers and committee members will come along. We always have a really good lunch provided by Lynne. Hope to see you there.
