Breed Notes - 26 Sep 2016
Fantastic news this week from Janice Robinson whom we all know from the show circuit with her lovely girl Lexi, posh name Zwartbos Moet who has just gone and qualified as CD ( Companion Dog ) in working trials which was run by Yorkshire Working Trials Society on 11th September. This is a most wonderful achievement for this team and goes to show what the hovawart can do with hard work, dedication and a strong bond between handler and dog. It’s not only working trials and the show ring you will see Janice and Lexi in but also the obedience circuit as well as they are working Novice in competitive obedience, beauty as well as brains is what sums up Lexi. Janice now joins the small band of elite handlers in hovies who have managed to qualify their dogs in the working trial discipline and we have had several dedicated handlers who have been very successful in the obedience world with their dogs and now Rally has taken off as a new sport with your dog with club members also doing very well and have achieved excellent results. A huge congratulations goes to Janice and Lexi. Keep up the good work and this allows the hovawart to be seen in a new light in the other circuits that the world of dogs bring to us.
Another success this weekend this time from the show circuit was from Perthshire open show where our judge Mr A Patterson ( Tanglemuir ) was judging the working group and had one class of Hovawarts to judge and he found his BOB in Ellen & Thomas Gutjahr’s blonde girl Bella , her posh name being Zwartbos Arreton who is no stranger to the top awards and not only stopping there but achieved an amazing third in the working group, and their boy Robin , Driftingsky Dusk was second in the class and third was Min’s girl Minches Kees Kilarney at 13 and a half years old who also got a second in AV Veteran. I believe the hovawart class was well supported with Mark Tyerman and Heather McManus there as well. A very well done and another excellent achievement, as a breed we don’t normally get recognised in the groups. By the time these notes are published the club show will be upon us , so I will report back on the activities , show, obedience and Rally results, I personally can’t wait to catch up with everyone again, hope to see you all there and please remember raffle prizes for Gina who is coordinating the raffle.
