I had a chat with Julie this week, and she mentioned Discover Dogs at Crufts. Remember it’s up and running for four days, which means we do need quite a number of volunteers for manning the stand. If you think you can help to do a morning or afternoon with your dog, please get in touch directly to Julie, her telephone number is 01253 777186. Crufts runs from Thursday 8th until Sunday 11th of March. Julie also mentioned that her Polly had gained her Gold Good Citizen award, which I think makes four from that litter. Well done.
Maggie Spencer has one or two spaces left at her Training Day in Worplesdon Village Hall, Surrey, on the 28th January for any Hovawart, any age, to come along and enjoy a day’s training. Spectators will also be welcome, and there will be help and advice given for most dog activities, even sniffer dogs, and bomb disposal (theory only). Contact Maggie on 01483 853042, and I hope to see you there.
One little idea I want to mention-because I think for winter indoor puppies it’s a winner – is to pop along to your local garden centre and buy one or two sods of grass, they are sold in rolls. At the furthest away point in the puppies’ run unroll the grass sod, and bingo the puppies learn to relieve themselves on the grass, but inside. After a couple of days take the sod up and repair a worn piece of your lawn, or improve a gate way outside, and replace with a fresh one. Winter litters can be fun.
