Mr R Searle was our judge at The South Wales Kennel Association Championship Show his best of Breed was Mrs C and Mr J Mclure’s Hightimbers Ticket To Dream at Kanukalos, Reserve Best Bitch Kanukalos Burletta also owned by Mrs C and Mr J Mclure. Best Dog was Mrs M Spencer’s Duxfortis Harris At Hightimbers and Reserve Best Dog and Best Puppy went to Mrs C and Mr J Mclure’s Pines Mansion At Kanukalos.

Working and Pastoral Breeds Association of Scotland Show is on Saturday 2nd November at Royal Highland Showground, Edinburgh. Mr M Von Bruggenburg-Rothschild will be judging Hovawarts. More details to follow.

On Sunday 13th October 4 Hovies and their humans did the first level of the Gold UK Sniffer Dog course, these 4 have all passed the previous Bronze and Silver Courses.  Well Done to Rosie, Lyra, Hudson and Shiraz. Everyone that has a Hovawarts will be aware they excel at any type of nose/scent work.  Thank you to Sue Davis and Julie Sales of Dog Tales Worthing for hosting us again. Cilla are the number of scent hairs (cilla) per cell which varies among species and appears correlated with oldfactory sensitivity. Minnow 4-6 cilla per oldfactory cell, Human 6-8 cilla per oldfactory cell, Frog 6 – 12 cilla per oldfactory cell, Rabbit 9-16 cilla per oldfactory cell, Rat 15-20 cilla per oldfactory cell, Cat 40 cilla per oldfactory cell, Dog 100-150 cilla per oldfactory cell.   (From M D Pearsall and Dr H Verbruggen 1982)
