Sunday 29th September is a busy day as we have Hovawart classes scheduled at Belfast Championship Show at Eikon Exhibition Centre, Lisburn. Steve Atkinson is the judge with an entry of 15 Hovawarts. Usually there is a week difference in the dates but this year due to venue availability it is the same date as The Hovawart Club of GB Show, which is at Oswestry, Showground, Shropshire. Entries are closed but all are welcome to the club show, there are the breed show classes, along with some Rally and KC Good Citizen Tests. The show opens at 9am and judging starts at 10.30am. Lets just hope for some nice weather!!!
A date for the future is that The Hovawart Club of GB will be hosting the International Hovawart Federation Show in 2027. The Club has hosted it previously in 2001 and 2015 and it is a chance to spend a weekend celebrating all things Hovawart.
I had a fabulous day today out Mantrailing, I live in a very rural location, and I took Shiraz to Worthing and he trailed through the town centre to the railway station to find the “Misper” hiding in the photo booth inside the station. It’s the only sport I can think of where you must trust your dog and you just follow as I had no idea where the person was. As far as I am aware most other activities with our dogs, they are following our instructions to do a certain thing. It totally blows my mind every time we go out, how they can differentiate the thousands of different scents there must be and the total focus and ignoring the people, traffic, and even a very bold cat!!
Please as always let me know what you are doing with your Hovie, is there a special walk or activity you both enjoy? I hope to see you On Sunday at the show.
